to fix an error?
This is a problem that can occur only in PBEM as face to face or cd rom would not have this kind of problem. How do you guys handle it?
Consider this hypothetical scenerio and tell me how you would resolve it if you were in the game or the minister of the law. This is a dramatized version of something I have seen a couple of times and I am wondering how others resolve it.
RUS troops attack Sinkiang on RU 4.
Battle is declared as:
16 inf, 1 arm, 2 ftr,
vs
13 inf, 3 ftrs
RU gets mangled in this battle and retreats 2 surviving ftrs to Nov. Sin held with 5 inf, 3 ftrs. Still the allies have weakened the Japan stack enough for UK to finish off on their turn.
On German T4, 3 ftrs fly to SIN to reinforce the SIN units. Germany engages in several other battles along the way.
On UK T4, the following battle is declared:
12 inf, 2 arm, 2 ftr,
vs
5 inf, 6 ftrs.
This time, SIN falls and is taken with 4 inf, 2 arm. Ftrs return to Karelia.
Now Japan reports that there was an error in the battle. An aa gun had been moved from burma to sin a few turns back, though in the most recent two updates the Japanese player had left that aa gun off the update. The allied player and not changed his map and assumed the aa was still in Burma. After checking with error correction which says that noncoms supercede unit updates, both agree that the aa gun was in fact in SIN.
Let's complicate this more: The allies have just enough to hold Russia from Japanese attack from cau so long as the battle results stand. However the chances that russia will fall increase to 50+ if the russians lose a ftr to aa fire and even worse if the Japanese ftrs in sin survive.
The axis player requests that the last SIN battle be rerolled with the AA gun included. This is clearly proper given error correction guidelines.
The allied player wonders why nothing was observed after the UK battle. Shouldn't that one be rerolled and then restart the game from there? Or, since nothing was said after UK T4 attack, continue with the game as if the aa gun were still in burma, since the axis player tacitly accepted that board position by accepting the results of the uk battle.
The game is on the line. What do you do?
